When the Catholics aren't killing the Church of Englanders, the C of E are killing the Catholics.  The Scot Presbyterians get involved as well. French Revolution (and French ships) add more fuel to the fire. Industrialization undercuts wool spinning and weaving by Irish women. Irish were just barely making it with farms and some wool weaving/spinning. With just farms, poverty and political 2nd class status.
