Faithful Place, Tana French, finished

I'll start with the weaknesses. The resolution of the plot (as I've found before with TF) isn't heart-stopping. Some of the characters seem (to this Irish lad) a bit over the top.

But that's it. TF's writing ability is second to none. She gives you a book and a half--this is not a writer who ever cheats her reader. No shortcuts. Vivid dialogue, great descriptions (almost too good, as our first person narrator is a male who doesn't seem that he'd be all that perceptive).

I realized when I was nit-picking this a bit in my mind that I would be 100% delighted if every murder mystery I read were 75% as good as Tana French's. I'm going to go back and make sure I gave her five stars on all my reviews.

Netflix Lincoln Lawyer

Just a long yawner. Acting was fine; there just wasn't nearly enough plot to carry 10 episodes. Tech guy accused of killing wife. LL takes on the case after the tech lawyer's first lawyer is murdered. Mickey Haller gets the guy off . . . trick is the guy is guilty. He used a drone to dispose of bloody clothes. Subplot Maggy McFierce trying to get a conviction of a human trafficker. She loses but then wins. The divorced couple almost gets back together, but they are on opposite sides of the adversarial process and work comes first. Won't be in a hurry to watch Season 2

Brotherhood

Showtime -- Providence, two brothers, one aspiring politician the other a crook. Totally different, but not so much. Cop (close friend as child) is investigating crooked brother. Pretty good series.
